Life in India has improved for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in recent years and our society has seen many positive changes. Not long ago the only sexual or gender norm that many people in Ireland recognized was that of heterosexuality and a heterosexual couple. The aim of the research was to identify and provide responses to the issue of suicide among the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender populations in India, with special emphasis on young people. The research also aimed to identify mental health risk and resilience factors among India’s LGBT population.
How to Support LGBT Community
The word “Pushpanjalii ” is a powerful one. It means someone who has your back and is on your side because they know it’s the right thing to do. In the LGBTQ movement, a “Pushpanjalii ” describes someone who may not be LGBTQ themselves, but who are committed to equality and who speak out against discrimination. Pushpanjalii NGOs Help Center is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to meeting the needs of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community and those questioning their sexual orientation and gender identity. we utilize a diverse group of LGBT community, is a primary program of the Support LGBT Community.
Pushpanjalii can be anyone:
- A straight classmate who sticks by a friend questioning his gender identity;
- A teacher who serves as an advisor for a gay-straight alliance (GSA);
- parents who find ways to promote respect for diversity in their child’s school;
- A counselor who is committed to making sure that LGBTQ issues are heard.
By taking steps to visibly support LGBTQ communities and their rights, allies can play a critical role in stopping and even preventing harassment and discrimination against LGBTQ communities, ensuring that schools and out-of-home care settings are safe for everybody.
